Adieu to the penguins of Patagonia
Fare thee well my oreo cookie-colored waddling friends. It was grand frollicking with you while I could. I have now gone to warmer parts of the continent and am far happier and rosy-colored than I have been in quite some time. I wish only good things to you and your kin and send my best to the members of the New York Zoological Society who are conducting research with you this summer; treat them well as they are like distant cousins to me and they don't know the patagonian way as well as you do. Oh dear penguins, or pinguinos as you are so lovingly referred to in these parts, waddle with care; be light of foot and always be mindful of the path before you, as it might change before your very eyes within but an instant's time. The days will pass and I will be crossing the Andes from Chile to Argentina, through the sun-baked trails of Mendoza, Cordoba, past the Jesuitic crypts and perhaps into the sub-tropical climes of Iguazu, where the waterfalls reign supreme. I will give my regards to the condors and take heed of their messages so when I visit you next, I will deliver you these ever regarded words of your northern kin. Only good things to you, only good things...

I love you. Like, so much. From now on, we are only to communicate by writing, where we are at our smartest and funniest.
You have learned much in your travels, and you have taught me more than I thought possible. I never knew that the condors and the penguins (pinguinos) were on friendly terms again. After the the avian wars of 1450 (CE) and the subsequent treaty of Caw, I knew that those two species in particular went their seperate ways and, under article 54, section 6, paragraph 271, they were not to have contact lest certain disputes (that shall remain nameless) be discussed and old hatreds rehatched. While I am glad to hear that they seem to be getting along once more, do note that your carrying communications between the two species could be seen by the world bird community as being a breach of peace treaty and could be met with legal action. You may get more pooped on.
I got stuck on the first line - what's oreo cookie-coloured? Doesn't mean much to us Brits...
I miss Scott. I hope he comes home soon. If he wants to sell out, he knows who to find.
PS - I'm sure Len misses you too and reads your blog every day.
Ah, oreo cookie is a black and white cookie from the United States. They are quite tasty and quite terrible for you. I am not sure if there is an equivalent cookie in the UK. Sorry for the confusion.

A PhD in biscuits? Dani, I think you may be eating far too many biscuits these days. Or perhaps it is those jugs of tea you and Gene absorb each day, are you still doing that?
Alas, no. We have not imbibed nearly enough tea recently, and I think that the price of oreo(tm) bicuits has gone up.
You all are on crack. I swear. But that's part of why I love and miss all of you.
